WICRs-Logo1_1_.jpgOver the weekend of January 23-24, 2014, the Wisconsin Federation of College Republican held their annual convention in Milwaukee, WI hosted by the Marquette University chapter. The convention served as a successful gathering of over a dozen of the WICR’s chapters.

Over the weekend of January 23-24, 2014, the Wisconsin Federation of College Republican held their annual convention in Milwaukee, WI hosted by the Marquette University chapter. The convention served as a successful gathering of over a dozen of the WICR’s chapters. Additionally, the convention provided an opportunity for the WICR Federation and its chapters to discuss the goals and objectives for the WICR’s to protect conservatism on campuses in Wisconsin as well as how to assist in moving Wisconsin forward. The convention kicked off with a social on Friday night where speaker Lt. Governor Kleefisch expressed the importance of WICR’s on Wisconsin campuses. On Saturday morning the Executive Board elections were held, the following individuals were selected into the indicated positions: Matthew Walker- Chairman (Marquette University), Charlie Hoffman- Vice-Chairman (UW Madison), Kylli Paavola- Secretary (Marquette University), and Rita Fadness- Treasurer (Alverno College). On Saturday afternoon, the convention was presented to by Skot Covert, Co-Chair of the College Republicans National Committee, about the necessity of continuing a heavy GOP presence on campuses in Wisconsin. Additionally, the President of the Heartland Institute-Joseph Blast, discussed policy and partisan issues; as well as the importance of our nation’s young adults in politics. Lastly, the Republican Party of Wisconsin presented on the Campus Captains program and the need for the WICR’s to continue their hard work going into the 2014 election year. The 2014 WICR convention was a great success and we look forward to achieving many of the goals set as well as implementing initiatives to continue to move Wisconsin forward.
