I'm With Senator Leah Vukmir

In 2010, President Obama, with the help of then Senator Feingold, passed the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act was supposed to lower the burden of healthcare costs on working families.

However, the opposite occurred. Prices have increased year after year including this year where the increases are expected to range from 5.44% to 37.88% in Wisconsin, according to the Journal Sentinel. Potentially a 37.88% increase in a family’s healthcare premium is anything but affordable.

With the health care problems in Wisconsin, thank goodness Wisconsin has a registered nurse as its assistant majority leader in the Wisconsin State Senate.

Leah Vukmir is our voice of reason in State Senate fighting to drive healthcare costs down in Madison. She has represented the 5th Senate district since 2011 which includes parts of Milwaukee and Waukesha County.

Before she joined the legislature Senator Vukmir worked as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner in the inner-city of Milwaukee. This experience on the front lines of healthcare gave her the perspective on how to create a patient driven healthcare system, rather than government driven.

Although she no longer works on the front lines of healthcare, Senator Vukmir still is always willing to help. In a committee meeting last March a woman was to testify to Senator Vukmir’s committee when see suffered a brain aneurysm that ruptured. Vukmir was first on the scene. She helped any way she could and witnesses credit her with helping to save a life.

This is the service that healthcare professionals provide on a daily basis to their patients. It is time to remove governmental overreach from our healthcare system and find a real solution to our healthcare problems.

#ImWithHer because Leah Vukmir knows that the Affordable Care Act is not the solution, it is the problem. We need to repeal and replace Obamacare with a market based plan that puts the patient and their doctor back in charge.

We thank Senator Vukmir for her continued fight in the State Senate and to assure Wisconsinites have truly affordable healthcare options.

Come back next week for more #ImWithHer as we highlight another accomplished Republican woman.
